Often
times when we are told, “don’t worry God will provide in his super natural
ways”. To this your mind imagines a stranger walking up to you and giving you money,
offering you a business deal, getting salary rise, bonus, promotions or maybe
that your account balance might mysteriously grow! Indeed at times, God
has provided in such ways. Personally, I have been at a place where God has
manifested his divine providence through family and friends. This this write-up,
I want to share about his provision manifesting in a different way.
You
see, I have had a rough patch, believers call it a wilderness experience. If
one is not fixed on God, they may stray from the ways of God when faced with
such predicaments. During this time (where I am singly raising two beautiful children)
God’s mighty hand has held me together and one of the areas is my finances.
God
may not increase your pay check or get people to give you but he can use what
you have to meet all your needs. I have seen his work in my life, God has used
what I have (a monthly income) to supply ALL
my needs (as at this point in time) without feeling the stretch or see it run
out. I have paid bills, rent, fuel, tuition, clothing, furnishings, food,
entertainment and oh yes, I have also given. Guess what, to my surprise, my
account has not read Zero balance instead, there has been a saving – however small!
This
experience resounds the story of Elisha and The Widow’s Olive Oil (2 Kings
4:1-6). We see a widow whose late husband had left a lot of debt and her sons were
going to be taken as slaves to pay off the debt. Elijah asked the widow what she had. She had
a small jar of olive oil. In Verse 3 – 4 Elisha said, “Go around and ask
all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few…it goes on in verse
5-6 to say,”…they brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When
all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he
replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
She run to tell Elisha what had happened
to which he replied, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can
live on what is left.” The Oil flowed, until there was enough to pay off the
debts left by her late husband and also take care of her and her sons!
We
see that God used what was available to meet a need at that point! It has been
amazing to see God satisfy me, I have not for a single day been anxious or had
sleepless nights because my bank balance was not enough versus what was needed
to keep my family running.
In
Hebrews 4:10 he says “for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their
works..” I have entered his rest. I have
allowed him to labor in me. I have experienced that peace that transcends all
human understanding.
Dear
Saints, keep in his rest and be assured that God is in the business of doing
good. He is a good GOD!
Hallelujah!
